Safety Work Goggles

Eye injuries impact workplaces around the country and remain one of OSHA’s top 10 safety violations almost every year. If you need safety eyewear that can help keep your workers protected, Magid has you covered! Whether particulates or dust can be found in the air on your jobsite or your workers handle dangerous chemicals or fluids that can splash or spill, find durable work goggles built for your team’s environment from our own brands (such as Gemstone®) as well as other prominent PPE manufacturers.

Safety Goggles and Eye Protection

While safety glasses can offer enough protection for some workplaces, safety goggles become a must if:

  • Your workers handle chemicals and need to protect their eyes and surrounding skin from potential splashes
  • Fine debris like particulates and dust is present in your work area
  • Your workers are exposed to bodily fluids and infectious diseases (such as when collecting samples from humans or animals)

Safety goggles can be worn over most pairs of prescription glasses as well as when your workers are wearing contact lenses. Safety goggles should also be able to fit an individual or be adjustable to provide appropriate coverage.

Types of Protective Goggles

Not all work goggles are the same. Address your workplace’s specific hazards with the following common varieties:

  • Vented Safety Goggles: These goggles are designed for direct ventilation (ideal for keeping out dust and flying particulates) or indirect ventilation (for improved chemical splash protection). Note that direct vent goggles are rated for impact resistance only, not for use while handling chemicals that can splash.
  • Airtight Safety Goggles: Unlike vented safety goggles, airtight safety goggles don’t have direct ventilation to block out fumes and vapors. A D3 marking on the goggles signifies they are rated for liquid splash. The lenses also have an anti-fog coating for consistent visibility.
  • Chemical Splash Goggles: These lab goggles prevent your eye and the surrounding tissue to be exposed to chemicals, bodily fluids, and infectious substances. Not all goggles are rated specifically for chemical splash, so it’s important to ensure the goggles you’re selecting or wearing are rated for chemical splash protection.
  • Impact Goggles: Impact goggles shield the eye and the area around it from projectiles in addition to chemical splashes
  • Safety Goggles with Face Shields: For environments where both face and eye protection are needed, safety goggles can be designed with hard-coated face masks for scratch and impact resistance
