ENVIRONMENTAL SUSTAINABILITY STATEMENT

Innovating for You

… for the Planet

… for a Better Future

We’re committed to helping keep your workers safe. At the same time, we take our responsibility as good stewards of the environment seriously, and that helps keep everyone safe.

Our solar array will provide energy over its lifetime equivalent to removing 40,000 gas-powered cars from the roads! That reduces our carbon emissions by approximately 5,700 metric tons of CO2 every year.

CREATING ENERGY & CONSERVING RESOURCES

We began our sustainability journey over a decade ago as we grew into a new Corporate Headquarters and sought ways to conserve energy and resources in our manufacturing operations. Today, we continue to make progress for the good of the community and the planet we all share.

The Largest Privately Held Rooftop Solar Array in the Midwest

Solar Panels | We topped our 700,000 sq ft. facility with the largest privately held rooftop solar array in the Midwest with over 10,000 photovoltaic solar panels.

Storage Batteries | Beyond storing energy, our state-of-the-art batteries allow us to participate in an energy consortium that provides stabilizing voltage regulation for the Eastern Interconnection Power Grid serving 13 states and Washington D.C.

Energy Conservation

Electric Cars | Charging stations allow team members who drive electric cars to charge them at work for free.

Conserving Water & Electricity | Plumbing and lighting fixtures in our facility are high-efficiency, auto-shutoff, and motion activated to minimize the water and energy we use. Our dual closed loop HVAC system reuses water to cool and heat our building.

DURABLE & SUSTAINABLE PPE

We’re on a mission to manufacture durable products with the minimum environmental impact.

Sustainability

The GP102, our flagship sustainable glove, switches away from the traditional process of manufacturing micro-foam nitrile coated gloves, which wastes an enormous amount of drinkable water.

  • Honored by Environmental Protection’s 2023 New Product of the Year, the GP102 has a 90% recycled knit shell made from Global Recycled Standard (GRS)-certified yarn, and a palm coating manufactured using ZERO clean water.
  • This foam coating is softer and more flexible than standard nitrile, while maintaining the oil and water resistance of traditional foam nitrile.

Durability

Many of Magid’s new technologies and materials are significantly more durable and last longer than items that may only seem economical. A durable glove that lasts many hours on the job reduces the number of gloves you purchase, lowers your lifetime cost, and keeps discarded gloves out of the landfill.

Cheaper Glove Durable Glove
Cost per Pair $2.61/pair $7.75/pair
Wear Time on the Job 4.1 hours 63.87 hours

We work every day to find ways to be greener in our products, our packaging, and our manufacturing practices to achieve our sustainability goals.

GREENER MANUFACTURING & PACKAGING

Our first steps on the way to greener manufacturing and a more sustainable product line.

Leather | We use the latest technology in computer-assisted laser leather cutting in both our Romeoville, IL and Philippines manufacturing plants to minimize leather waste.

Recyclable Packaging | Every new product innovation is packaged in cardboard sleeve packaging instead of plastic polybags.

Planning for the Future | Like the GP102, our future product innovations will be made from recycled yarn polymers wherever possible.

REDUCING, REUSING, & RECYCLING

Wherever possible, we reduce, reuse, and recycle materials. We’re always on the lookout for ways to reduce our carbon footprint and keep materials out of the landfill.

Thinking Outside the Box

Most manufacturing facilities discard broken pallets, but we collect the pieces and build new ones!

We even reused the rocks that used to cover our facility roof for landscaping purposes to conserve water and nurture trees!

OUR COMMITMENT TO FUTURE GENERATIONS

We’re on a journey to…

  • Continuously review our practices and products to see how we can make them greener.

  • Review the life cycle of every new product to see how we can make improvements throughout the supply chain.

  • Choose like-minded suppliers for our distribution business.
