Half-Face Masks and Full-Face Respirators
Respirators are essential for workers exposed to dust, fog, mists, vapors, gases, and sprays, as well as in low-oxygen environments. Based upon the hazard, a full-face or half-face mask provides the required level of coverage. In ensuring your workforce is properly protected, find both half- and full-face respirator masks at Magid®, as well as corresponding cartridges and filters.
Half-Face vs. Full-Face Respirators
Which is right for your environment? Half-face masks strictly cover the nose and mouth and deliver a tight, close fit to block out particulates. A full-face mask, meanwhile, provides this level of coverage and extends it upward over the eyes. Understand that a respirator mask by itself doesn’t provide sufficient protection and requires filters, prefilters, and cartridges based upon the environment and hazard.
For corresponding cartridges, NIOSH-approved N95 and P100 filters limit exposure to particles of varying sizes as well as mists, aerosols, and fumes. Organic vapor cartridges additionally filter out harmful gases and fumes. Explore compatible respiratory cartridges and filters.
To determine whether a full- or half-face mask is right for your environment, reference SDS sheets, OSHA’s occupational exposure limit and permissible exposure limit documents, and the Assigned Protection Factor (APF) described in OSHA 1910.134. With this information, reference OSHA’s APF chart for a respirator mask type based on calculated value.
